The Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) has officially released the OSSC Food Safety Officer Recruitment 2026 notification under the Combined Graduate Level Recruitment Examination (CGLRE-2025) for Specialist Posts/Services. Through this recruitment drive, OSSC will recruit 84 Food Safety Officer (Group B) posts under the Commissioner of Food Safety, Government of Odisha. The online application process will start from 09 June 2026 through the official OSSC website, while the last date for submission of online application form is 11th July 2026. However, candidates can complete their online registration only till 08th July 2026 as per the official schedule. 


The selection process for the Food Safety Officer posts will consist of Preliminary Examination, Main Written Examination, and Certificate Verification. OSSC Food Safety Officer Eligibility Criteria 2026 

Educational Qualification:

Candidates applying for the Food Safety Officer post must have any one of the following qualifications from a recognized University or Institution:

  • Degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agricultural Science, Veterinary Science, Bio Chemistry, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Medicine.
  • Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Surgery or equivalent qualification recognized by the Medical Council of India.
  • Master Degree in Chemistry or Degree in Medicine.
  • Degree or Master Degree in Food Engineering, Food Processing and Preservation, Food Process Engineering, Food Technology and Management, Food Biotechnology, Food Safety and Quality Assurance, Agricultural Engineering, Food Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Horticulture, etc.
  • Candidates must have adequate knowledge in Computer Application.

OSSC Food Safety Officer Selection Process 2026 

The selection process for OSSC Food Safety Officer Recruitment 2026 will be conducted in four stages including Preliminary Examination, Main Written Examination, Computer Skill Test, and Certificate Verification. Candidates must qualify each stage to be considered for final selection.

Stage 1 – Preliminary Examination: The preliminary examination will be qualifying in nature. Candidates who qualify in this stage will be shortlisted for the mains examination.

Stage 2 – Main Written Examination: Candidates shortlisted from the preliminary examination will appear for the main written examination. The final merit list will be prepared mainly on the basis of marks secured in the mains exam.

Stage 3 – Computer Skill Test: Candidates qualifying in the mains examination will have to appear for a Computer Skill Test to assess their basic computer knowledge and practical skills.

Stage 4 – Certificate Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for certificate and document verification before final appointment. 

OSSC Food Safety Officer Exam Pattern 2026 

The preliminary examination will consist of one objective type paper conducted in CBRE/OMR mode.

  • Total Questions: 150 Questions
  • Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes
  • Question Type: Objective Type MCQs
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 Mark for each wrong answer


Candidates numbering at least five times the total vacancies category wise and post wise will be shortlisted for the Main Written Examination based on marks secured in the Preliminary Examination. 

Stage II Main Written Examination

The main written examination will consist of one Technical Paper conducted in objective type format.

Candidates applying for certain posts mentioned in the official notification are exempted from the Computer Skill Test. However, candidates applying for the remaining posts including Food Safety Officer are required to qualify the Computer Skill Test.

Stage III Certificate Verification

OSSC Food Safety Officer Salary 2026

Selected candidates for the Food Safety Officer post through OSSC CGLRE 2025 will be appointed in the Group-B cadre under Pay Level-9 of ORSP Rules, 2017, with a salary ranging from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400 per month, along with Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits as per Odisha Government service rules.
